
Biography
Austrian saxophonist Andreas Mader has been described as a musician with "brilliant technique and great versatility" (Rhein Zeitung) and the ability to "fully portray the spectrum of emotional states" (Tiroler Tageszeitung). In 2024, Andreas made his debut in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall (New York). In April of the same year, his new album "Walking The Dog" with German pianist Joseph Moog was released on Naïve Records. He won first prize at the prestigious Naumburg Competition in New York in 2022 and, shortly before that, first prize at the international Werner Pirchner Prize 2022 in Austria. In the 21/22 season Andreas performed together with pianist Christos Papandreopoulos in 12 major concert halls in the Netherlands as part of the prestigious "Dutch Classical Talent Tour". His debut CD "Lilith & Lulu" (2019) received rave reviews not only in the Dutch, but also in the Austrian and Luxembourg press, as well as on Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR-Klassik). Andreas is a prize winner of the "1st International Piano Chamber Music Competition Birmingham", the AEOLUS International Competition, the Andorra International Saxophone Competition and the Bertold Hummel Competition Würzburg. As a soloist he performed with the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden, the Philharmonie Südwestfalen, the Tiroler Kammerorchester InnStrumenti, Windkraft - Kapelle für Neue Musik, among others. In his constant search for new artistic possibilities, Andreas completed his Master's degree in Live-Electronics at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he also received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees "cum laude" in the renowned saxophone class of Arno Bornkamp. Andreas also had the opportunity to study with Claude Delangle at the CNSM de Paris as part of the Erasmus program. He furthermore received lessons from Pierre Laurent Aimard with his duo.
